‘Pit Road’ Street Fair and World Premiere Overture HighlightCollaboration of Racing and Music

PHOENIX – The worlds of racing, cars and music collide in a one-of-a-kind world premiere concert. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Phoenix International Raceway, The PhoenixSymphony and Barrett-Jackson join PIR on November 6 to present a special evening mixing great music and classic cars at a groundbreaking event marking the first-ever partnership between worlds of NASCAR and orchestral performance. First, a ‘Pit Road’ street festival allows up-close viewing of classic sports and luxury cars, then a pre-concert red carpet experience offers a chance to mingle with VIPs. A multimedia concert experience led by Masterof Ceremonies, ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ star Tom Wopat, ends the evening.  This special concert includes the world premiere of the ‘The Sound of Speed’ overture, color guard and musical tribute to Veterans, and a special appearance by NASCAR Hall of Famer, Rusty Wallace.

This spectacular event begins with a ‘Pit Road’ street festival along 3rd Street in downtown Phoenix, hosted courtesy of Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. Entry to the festival is just $10. A 1965 Shelby Cobra CSX 6000 Series 427 S/C component vehicle and a 2008 Bugatti Veyronare just two of the 30 rare cars from Barrett-Jackson’s collection that will be part of the ‘Pit Road’experience. Also on display will be the Toyota Avalon pace car that serves as PIR’s unofficial mascot and can be seen at events throughout the Valley and on the race track every day during the semifinal weekend of the 2014 NASCAR season, November 6 through 9 at PIR.

Next, VIP Event attendees will enjoy a pre-concert, red carpet party, which provides a chance to mingle with NASCAR personalities and local celebrities while dining and sipping specialty cocktails. Attendees have the opportunity to bid on exclusive auction items specifically selected to impress at this one-of-a-kind event.

Once the party goes inside, guests will be able to experience the evening’s grandiose finale, ‘The Sound of Speed’ concert, conducted by Larry Blank. This multimedia performance featuring hits related to the road will also feature appearances by NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace as a guest conductor and the night’s Master of Ceremonies, ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ star Tom Wopat. During this Veteran’s Day weekend event, all three organizations will pay tribute to our veterans for their service and sacrifice with a color guard and musical tribute to Veterans during the concert. Tickets to the performance portion of the evening range from $30 to $99 and include complimentary access to Barrett-Jackson’s ‘Pit Road,’ prior to the concert.
