The Phoenix Symphony Announces the 2015/16 Season
This innovative season maintains The Phoenix Symphony’s classical legacy, while featuring some of the top names in entertainment and introducing young, American composers

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Symphony announces the 2015/16 season, which marks the internationally acclaimed Virginia G. Piper Music Director Tito Muñoz’ second season with the Symphony. As Music Director, Muñoz was instrumental in developing this Season, particularly the Classics Series.

“Tito represents the dynamic and exciting ability to advance the orchestral art form by celebrating the classical tradition and at the same time experiments with a more accessible, 21st century approach,” says Jim Ward, President & CEO of The Phoenix Symphony. “From Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Human Nature to Schoolhouse Rock! and the Legends Series, this season is going to be the most fun you’ve ever had at The Phoenix Symphony.”

The Symphony will present several Special Performances throughout the Season including audience favorites Handel’s Messiah and New Year’s Eve Celebration and The Speed of Sound 2 fundraising concert and event with Barrett-Jackson Auction Company.

The Avondale Toyota Classics Series features a line-up of superstar repertoire and guest artists. Highlights include:

  • Opening Night as Maestro Muñoz conducts the famed and powerful Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. This program introduces emerging young composer Adam Schoenberg’s American Symphony.
  • An all-Mozart program featuring Symphony No. 39, Overture to Le nozze di Figaro, Piano Concerto No. 2 and the ever popular Eine kleine Nachtmusic.
