The Phoenix Symphony heads “Out to the Ballgame” with Dave Winfield and the Arizona Diamondbacks
(PHOENIX) – Get ready to celebrate opening weekend and 10 years of Arizona Diamondbacks baseball, as The Phoenix Symphony presents “Out to the Ballgame,” 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 12, where audiences will thrill to an evening of music inspired by America's pastime.
Cheer to selections from popular baseball-themed movies including Field of Dreams and The Natural, as well as popular songs “Say Hey, Willie Mays,” and a “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” audience sing-a-long, “Out to the Ballgame” is the perfect symphony concert for music lovers and sports fans alike, conducted by Robert Thompson. In addition, the concert will include a stirring video tribute to the Baseball Hall of Fame, and narration by Baseball Hall of Fame member Dave Winfield. Get into the sporting spirit, with popcorn, cracker jacks, and more!
Sports memorabilia collectors will also be able to participate in an onsite auction of unique and valuable baseball items. Auction items will include signed, framed photographs (with a value of $2,075) of baseball legends such as Yogi Berra and Hall-of-Famers Willie Mays, Ernie Banks and Harmon Killebrew. Other great memorabilia will include signed photographs from 2005 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Brian Urlacher and Chicago Cub greats Ryan Sandberg and Ron Santo.
Thanks to the generous and continued support of The Phoenix Symphony from The Arizona Diamondbacks, the organization will also recognize team owner Jeff Morad with a special award at the evening's festivities.
