Volunteer Programs
Volunteers are the heart of The Phoenix Symphony. The moment you enter Symphony Hall volunteers make the magic of music come alive. Volunteers assist our Box Office staff at concerts. Our Symphony Hall Gift Shop is staffed by dedicated volunteers during each concert. The Allegro, create unique events like “Meet the Artists” and various fundraising activities to benefit The Phoenix Symphony. The Young Professionals for the Phoenix Symphony, our newest group, combine pre-concert events with discounted concert tickets to audiences new to the classical music experience. Phoenix Symphony Allegro (formerly the Auxiliary) The Allegro serves as one of the fundraising arms of The Phoenix Symphony in addition to promoting music education through the Phoenix Symphony Mentoring program (see below) and promoting the Symphony's visibility in the community. Founded in 1984, The Allegro assists with fundraising activities to benefit The Phoenix Symphony. Members enjoy hosting a variety of events including "Meet the Artist!" and “Meet the Musicians.” The Phoenix Symphony Allegro strives to achieve its goal while enriching the lives of its members by fostering new friendships. Membership dues are $35.00 for Active Members, $100.00 for Associate Members and $350.00 for Lifetime members. (Back to top)
Phoenix Symphony Mentoring Program Share your enthusiasm for music with elementary school children. Members participate in the Mentoring Program preparing students for Symphony for the Schools concerts, which are held 3 times a year. Mentors (or docents) attend a training session, with materials provided, to learn how to prepare children for the Symphony for the Schools concert they have been scheduled to attend. No formal musical training background is required to participate as a mentor. (Back to top)
Phoenix Symphony Chorus The Chorus serves as a professional-level performing partner of The Phoenix Symphony. Auditions are held twice a year in August and January. Chorus volunteers govern their own members in partnership with the Chorus master and Symphony staff. Phoenix Symphony Friends The Phoenix Symphony Friends operate The Phoenix Symphony Gift Shop located in the lobby at Symphony Hall. The Gift Shop sells wonderful musical merchandise including CDs, clothing, figurines, and many other unique items. All Gift Shop proceeds directly benefit The Phoenix Symphony. Members enjoy staffing the Gift Shop prior to concert performances and during intermission. Various social events for members are scheduled throughout the year as well. Membership dues are $25 for an individual or $40 for a couple. (Back to top)
Young Professionals for The Phoenix Symphony Young Professionals group encourages younger audience members to experience symphony concerts. Social events tied to a series of concerts throughout the year generate opportunities to mingle with peers, while experiencing an array of classical and popular music. Members receive email updates about upcoming events. No membership fee. You pay only for each event you attend ($10/individual, $20/couple). Physicians for The Phoenix Symphony The Physician's group meets several times a year to host salon concerts in private homes and at Symphony Hall. Other special events explore various musical topics in depth. Members are encouraged to maintain Season ticket subscriptions in addition to supporting The Phoenix Symphony at the Prelude Patron level or higher. Annual dues: $50.00 plus Patron level sponsorship. Phoenix Symphony Box Office & Courtesy Table Volunteers staff the will-call office prior to each concert at Symphony Hall and assist at the Symphony Hall lobby Courtesy Table providing information to Symphony Hall guests. (Back to top) Phoenix Symphony Office Volunteers Office volunteers provide assistance with season ticket mailings, special event mailings, and other clerical duties in The Phoenix Symphony administrative offices. Volunteers are needed during the Symphony for The Schools program to assist children from the bus to Symphony Hall, you can enjoy the concerts with the children. Family Concerts have one hour of FREE interactive activities designed for children ages 6-12. These activities begin 1 hour prior to the Family Concerts starting at 1:30 pm on October 6, November 10, February 23, March 29, and May 10. (Back to top)
