GREETINGS SYMPHONY LOVERS!
It is my absolute pleasure to announce the 2008/09 Phoenix Symphony
Season!
What a year we have planned for you - from our spotlight on three of the
most fascinating composers: Franz Joseph Haydn, Igor Stravinsky and the
captivating Jennifer Higdon - to concerts with the greatest classical music
superstars in the world today.
This year The Phoenix Symphony will be joined by the glorious Jane Eaglen,
the incomparable violinist Joshua Bell, and pianist Lang Lang, the phenomenon
who is taking the world by storm. Truly this is a season filled with the finest
artists in the classical music realm.
And this season, through the tremendous support of the Target Corporation,
we are proud to inaugurate The Phoenix
Symphony's first World Music Festival. This magnificent Festival will showcase
musical traditions and artists from around the globe and includes the incredible
Kronos Quartet.
Our Classics Season includes some of the most thrilling pieces ever
composed, from the monumental Carmina Burana to Stravinsky's Firebird,
while our Pops Series brings a fun array of favorites from the music of 007
James Bond, to the great hits of Rodgers and Hammerstein.
We look forward to concerts that will surprise and entertain you and also
unleash the emotions that only a symphony orchestra can evoke!
